The LMI provides mid-level administrators and tenure-line faculty with the tools and resources to move into senior-level administrative positions. Participants engage with educational leaders in a series of seminars throughout the week, which are designed to prepare leaders for the next phase of academic leadership.
The full cost for tuition and fees is $2799. The $799 application fee is applied to the tuition and fees leaving a balance of $2000 (payable upon acceptance but no later than May 31). Tuition and fees includes the week-long Institute, curriculum materials, meals (unless otherwise noted in the acceptance materials), accommodations (single occupancy), and transportation during the Institute. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from their home to to the host site.
All participants are required to stay in the lodging provided by the Institute.
Accepted applicants may submit a refund request for tuition and fees via email to the LMI Director (aabhe.lmi@gmail.com) no later than May 31. All refund requests for tuition and fees received by the deadline will be reviewed and processed within two weeks. Refunds for tuition and fees will have an administrative processing fee of $300 deducted. The application fee is non-refundable for accepted applicants.
For applicants not accepted to the Institute, the application fee will be returned within six weeks of the April 1 deadline.
The Institute begins Sunday evening and concludes on Saturday morning. Attendees should arrive at the host site no later than 3:00pm (local time) on Sunday. Participants should plan to depart the host site on Saturday morning no earlier than 10:00am (local time). Participants are required to stay in lodging provided by the Institute).
How soon will I hear whether I have been accepted?
Applicants should expect to hear of their status no later than one month from the application deadline via email. Applicants placed on a waiting list will receive an email indicating their wait list status.
How many applicants will be accepted?
The number of applicants selected to participate in the Institute varies depending on the applicant pool and host campus capacity.
If I am placed on a wait list, is there any possibility that I will be able to participate this year?
Possibly. Sometimes accepted applicants are unable to attend for various reasons. However, you will be contacted no later than June 1 if there is space available and to determine if you are still interested in attending the Institute.
When should I plan to arrive and depart?*

Is transportation provided?
Upon your arrival at the host site, all travel related to LMI will be provided. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the host site.
If I drive in my personal vehicle to LMI will I be able to park my car?
Yes, you will be able to park your car at the hotel. Details will be provided prior to arrival. Parking passes will not be available for participants to park on the CPP campus.

What is the expected attire?
LMI participants will need to wear professional business attire for two days (Sunday evening and all-day Friday). Participants will need business casual attire for all other activities.
Where will I stay during the Institute?
Lodging will be provided at a hotel in close proximity to the campus. All Institute participants are expected to stay in the lodging provided by the Institute (single occupancy).
What personal items do I need to bring?
Bath towels and bed linens will be provided. You will need to bring everything else.
Will there be internet?
Yes. internet will be available at no additional cost.
Will there be an ironing board and iron?
Yes. An iron and ironing board will be provided.
Will I have access to a refrigerator or microwave?
Yes, each hotel room will have a mini fridge and microwave as well as a coffee pot.
Will I need to leave a credit card on file for incidentals?
Yes, each hotel guest is required to show a picture ID and to have a credit card on file for incidentals.
I need to arrive on Saturday, July 8 or check out on Sunday, July 16, I understand I would be responsible for the room charges because it is outside of the Institute dates but wanted to know if I could get the group rate at the hotel for arriving early or staying later?
Definitely! If you would like a room earlier than Sunday, July 9 or later than Saturday, July 15, please let the LMI Director know as soon as possible so she can request a room for you in the room block at the rate of $159/night plus taxes.
What meals are provided during the Institute?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided every day the Institute is held starting with the welcome dinner on Sunday and concluding with breakfast on Saturday. All participants are expected to attend every meal, including those who reside within the city.
Will I have time to do work such as email, fax, conference calls, etc.?
No. The intensive format of the Institute will provide little or no time for individuals to engage in work-related or personal activities. Therefore, it is very important that participants take care of time sensitive matters prior to arriving at the Institute and not expect to be engaged electronically during the Institute.
How will time be spent outside of formal Institute sessions and meals?
Team projects will comprise the majority of time spent outside the formal Institute sessions. All participants are expected to participate in all Institute activities, sessions, meals and team projects.
What is the tentative timeline of activities for the Institute?
The Institute will begin with a welcome dinner on Sunday evening and conclude on Saturday morning. Throughout the week, participants are expected to attend all scheduled sessions from early morning to late afternoon.
Will we be required to do any work prior to the Institute?
There will be some required activities that must be completed prior to the Institute. Specific information about activities required in preparation for the Institute will be provided in June.
What time do sessions begin and end on a daily basis?
Institute sessions begin at 8am and conclude at 6pm daily with team meetings held in the evenings after dinner.
I have friends/family in the city, can they join us for a meal?
No, meals and activities are for LMI participants, staff, and faculty. LMI provides an opportunity for you to network professionally with fellow participants and speakers. Participants should not invite family, friends and associates to any LMI activities, sessions, or meals. Team activities are scheduled in the evening and team members should not be expected to conform to your schedule. We strongly encourage participants to utilize this opportunity to network with each other and the LMI faculty. If participants would like to arrive early or stay later to spend time with family and friends in the city or to partake in tourist activities arrangements have been made at the hotel for a reduced rate.
Can I wait to pay the application fee after I am accepted?
No, only complete applications will be reviewed by the selection committee. A complete application includes the following: LMI Participant Application, Resume/Vitae, Statement of Interest, Two Professional Recommendations and Payment of Application Fee.
Will you return my application fee if I am not accepted?
Yes, the application fee will be returned within 6 weeks of the application deadline. Note: If an applicant is selected for LMI, the application fee is non-refundable.
If I am accepted to the Institute and confirm my acceptance but due to extenuating circumstances I am unable to attend, what should I do?

If I can only attend part of the Institute can I receive a prorated rate?
Unfortunately this is not an option. If you are unable to attend the entire Institute then you should not accept the offer of acceptance. The intensive format of the Institute and the team project require equal participation from all participants throughout the week. Participants who do not participate in all aspects (i.e., opening dinner through the closing dinner and team presentation) of the LMI will not receive a certificate indicating their successful completion of the Institute and will not be listed as an alumnus of LMI.
When will you process my application fee?
All fees paid via credit card will be processed upon submission. Fees paid via check will be deposited within 14 business days of receipt.

Can an invoice be automatically generated?
Yes. To receive an invoice, click on "Pay by Credit Card" to enter the AABHE payment portal. Input your contact information. Under Payment Information, select "Bill Me" (i.e., request an invoice). It is after May 31 and I have an emergency or extenuating circumstances that prevent me from attending LMI, will I get a refund? Email the LMI Director (aabhe.lmi@gmail.com) to make aware of the extenuating circumstances that prevent you from attending. An administrative processing fee of $500 will be deducted from tuition and fees plus any other expenses the Institute has incurred. Note: The application fee is non-refundable.
